Frequently Asked Questions

For Visitors

What is Indiecontests? How do I use it?

Indiecontests is a website that posts contests and deals that are offered by independent artists, designers, retailers and bloggers.

Each contest or deal has specific rules that range from leaving comments to using a coupon code at checkout. To learn more, simply click on the contest or deal you are interested in.

How are the contests & deals organized?

Contests & deals are posted in the order we receive them. In other words, the newest ones always come first, ensuring a fresh, daily supply of posts. We have also added several categories and a search box to your right to assist you in finding what you need.

For Contest Winners

How will I know if I’ve won a contest?

If the contest is hosted by Indiecontest (i.e., you entered a contest by leaving a comment on Indiecontests.com), you will be contacted within 24-48 hours via email. If the contest is being hosted by another site, you will likely be contacted within a similar timeframe by the contest provider.

I am a contest winner but have not received my prize. What do I do?

First thing’s first: Indiecontests does not provide nor ship any prizes. Your first recourse is ALWAYS to contact the contest provider (i.e., the artist, designer, retailer or blog running the contest) if you have any questions or concerns.

Please note that it may take anywhere from 2-4 weeks to receive your prize, possibly longer if it is being shipped internationally or is made to order.

If you have been unable to get a satisfactory response from the contest provider within 4 weeks, please report the contest provider to Indiecontests here.

For Artists, Designers, Retailers and Bloggers

Is there a limit to the number of contests and deals I can submit?

To avoid abuse of the system through spamming, you may have a maximum of three (3) contests and deals running at any one time, combined. For example you can have 2 contests and 1 deal, or 3 deals total.

Does it cost money to submit a contest/deal?

No — submitting contests and deals is completely free. We do request that you link back to Indiecontests (either with this badge or a simple text link) if you find our site to be useful, but this is totally optional. =)

How long will it take for my deal or contest to be posted?

It will may take anywhere from 24-48 hours for a new deal or contest to be posted. However, in general, they are posted much faster than this.

Will I get a confirmation email that my deal or contest has been posted?

Yup! Also, Indiecontests will email you if your submission was rejected so you are not left wondering.

I submitted my deal/contest, it’s been more than two days and I haven’t received a rejection, yet I still don’t see it. What’s wrong?

The most likely reason is that your deal or contest has a start date in the future. To keep the site relevant and timely, deals and contests will not be posted before their start date.

If this is not the case, just fill out the contact form here with your name, email address, the prize provider’s name/shop, and the prize you won — there is a chance that we may have simply overlooked your submission.

Is there any way for my contest or deal to remain at the top?

Yes — the first three slots are each available for $15/week, and are first come, first serve. Note that these are not a normal sponsored slots; you MUST be posting a contest or deal to occupy this slot.

How do I make a change to a contest/deal?

You can send an email to contact@indiecontests.com with your changes.

Can I submit anything other than a contest or deal?

Indiecontests only accept contests or deals. While contests are fairly obvious, deals may need some clarification.

For Indiecontests’ purposes, deals generally refer to any of the following: coupons, free shipping, and discounts/sales. Indiecontests will also accept charity- and donation-based promotions on a case by case basis (just submit them through Add a Deal).

Why is the contest/deal submission form so long? Can’t I just email you the details?

There are two reasons why you should fill out each form completely:

Reason #1: To ensure that all deals and contests are presented consistently.
A consistent presentation means less confusion for visitors, and a higher likelihood they will participate in your contest or deal.

Reason #2: To get you the most promotional bang for your buck.
More information means more opportunities to market and advertise your product to each visitor.

What do you do with expired contests or deals?

Indiecontests removes expired contests and deals to make way for newer ones. We will keep them within our database for some time just in case you wish to re-use them, but we will eventually delete expired ones permanently.

How can I get added to the Daily Reads section in the lower left?

To be added to the Daily Reads section, you must run a blog that covers independent artists and designers and be willing to reciprocate with Indiecontests by adding our badge to your own blog (click here to download the Indiecontests badge).
